BSBIA Meeting Minutes from June 3, 2017 at Shady Shores Camp Ground

  1. Election of officers-
  • Hal Bernardi, President stepping down- position open
  • Tom Agnello stepping down-position open
  • Assistant Vice President- new position open
  • Toni Santoferrara- Treasurer
  • Diane Banks-Secretary
  1. Lynn Chatfield, Town of Wolcott Supervisor attended the meeting to discuss the flood situation, sandbag availability, financial assistance to town, businesses and home owners who suffered losses, clean up of debris was discussed- the need to hire a contractor maybe needed to haul debris away after clean up, the town may help if debris is brought to road for clean up
  2. Treasurer Report-Toni Santoferrara- only half of membership dues have been collected, we discussed keeping the channel closed as we do not have the funds for opening channel at this point- balance as of 6/1/17 is $7875.50 which is not even enough for first dig
  3. It was discussed to keep the channel closed this year-it was voted upon to have a wait and see attitude on the opening of the channel- this will be voted on at the next meeting in July- date to be set – please keep an eye on Web.Page for meeting date and time
  4. All members of BSBIA are urged to contact or write your Senators, Congressman and government officials regarding Plan 214 high water level, also it was mentioned that maybe be large boulders could be put on barrier wall to strengthen the breaches
  5. We asked members to contact DEC regarding Cormorant population on Blind Sodus Bay- they are killing the trees with their feces and with all the breaches with the barrier wall now this will make the rest of barrier wall excisable to more collapse – may be able to nescience permit
  6. Chris Lee, Channel Master discussed permits needed to open Channel- Army Corp permit in order, DEC permit expires in December- Chris also asked that members DO NOT launch boats at Shady Shores due to the amount of debris
  7. John ??????? offered to watch Bay level this winter as he is a year round resident
  8. No takes on West Side Membership Director
  9. BSBIA needs your support with dues and open positions of officers- WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT THE BSBIA WILL SUFFER- PLEASE HELP AS THIS IS YOUR COTTAGES, HOMES AND CAMP GROUNDS THAT ARE BEING AFFECTED
  10. A posting of paid and unpaid members will be on the BSBIA web-site
  11. The boat parade and ring of fire is postponed this year due to high water, debris and sand bags make this dangerous for boaters and fires- we may look into Labor Day Weekend- keep up to date with web. Site for updates on all events
